Wait, What is This?

The times call for faith leaders to be unapologetically open and affirming of our LGBTQ+ siblings. Many LGBTQ+ folks are being brutally targeted and erased by our government. To this, we, the Lexington Affirming Faith Coalition, say no more! LGBTQ+ people are a blessing and we are here to affirm you, support you, and let you know that you are loved. We know religion and spirituality have been a source of deep pain for many in the LGBTQ+ community. We pledge our ministries and our communities to boldly use our voices in support of our LGBTQ+ neighbors.

What Does This Involve?

At our Lexington Pride Fest, clergy from the Lexington Affirming Faith Coalition will be present to offer support and blessings to the LGBTQ+ community. Many of us are LGBTQ+ ourselves! We will honor your path, whether it is spiritual, philosophical, or something else entirely — and recognize your inherent worthiness with words of affirmation. The blessing is entirely what you want and need it to be, or you can ask our clergy to provide a general blessing to you. This is one small act of joy, hope, and reparation that we can offer to all who need it as we celebrate with Pride.

Design Your Blessing

Take one of our simple and intentionally interfaith (or no faith) friendly blessing menus and fill it out. There are no wrong answers and we are here to honor what you need in the moment. Feel free to talk to one of our clergy if you have any questions.

Be Blessed!

You are already a blessing! But sometimes we need strength, joy, and hope for the journey ahead. Give your blessing to one of our wonderful clergy and they’ll offer you the blessing. Glitter is available but not required!

Be a Blessing!

So, you got blessed, now what?! Go forth and be a blessing! In these difficult times, we need to be a blessing to the stranger, the marginalized, and anyone who needs a reminder that they are not alone.

Who we are

We are a part of the Lexington Affirming Faiths. We are an interfaith coalition of faith leaders who are unapologetically affirming of the LGBTQ+ community. We commit ourselves and the communities we serve to be intentionally welcoming to all regardless of your sexual orientation or gender identity.

Mindful of the intersectional nature of oppression and the times we live in, our affirmation and advocacy extends to marginalized communities across Fayette County and the city of Lexington.

Blessed @ Pridefest is one of our affirming ministries.
